Taste Of Britain 2017
Taste of britain brief was the first project of the degree. I focused on two of the favourite things British people love.
Beer and tea!
Surprise Project
Surprise project i responded by illustrating the funny typical tourist photos. I drew these using black sharpie and then minipluating the photos on photoshop.
Angels and Devils
Angels and devils brief was to respond by illustration somethign or somone who you see as either a angel or a devil. I chose to illustrate both through a digital illustration on on fiance.
Batch project
Making our own product to sell and to get in a shop. I made temporary tattoos based on Sailors. Made in Hastings were happy to allow us to create a window display in the shop fro 2 weeks.
Sense Of Place
Sense of place project was based on the amount of drug use in the Summer fields woods where the historic remains of the roman baths. Needles and spoons were scattered in every spot of the woods.
End of year show 2019
My project, I chose to focus on the benifits of cannabis and how it should be legalised in the UK. I chose to make protest posters.
Subversion
My response to body subversion was faces in packaging stacked in a supermarket. I illustrated how beauty has become important in todays society.
WE'RE NOT MEAT
My final major project is focused on how tattooed women are regarded by others. As part of this, I researched the many reasons why women get tattoos, whether because of insecurity, to conceal scars or because they are beautiful. In addition, I looked at slang associated with tattoos.
In approaching the work I chose to use sampling and collage techniques and enjoyed mixing up drawings, textures and type. Generally I worked digitally. I finally decided to place the tattooed body parts in a Butchers. I wanted the message to be hard and strong whilst still having the element of a feminine beauty as well as the beauty of the tattoos themselves
After 3 hard years I managed to finish my Illustration degree during a pandemic....
I got a well deserved
Second class honours; first division!!!
So what's next??
My plan is to save as much as possible at my job, improving my portfolio to apply for a tattoo apprenticeship when im ready!
Thank you University Centre Hastings for the good long 6 years...but im done with you now!!
